The Artistic Home's 2008/2009 season continues its exploration of the artist in society with the rarely produced Modigliani by Dennis McIntyre. The second production in Artistic Home's Mainstage series, Modigliani will be directed by Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra and will feature Artistic Home co-founder and Associate Director, John Mossman in the title role.

Performances are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm. Previews are February 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th at 8:00pm. Single tickets are $25 on Fridays and Saturdays and $23 on Thursdays and Sundays. Preview tickets are $15. Set in the Left Bank of Paris, 1916, Modigliani chronicles a critical 72 hour period for an artistic genius on the verge of fame. A rival of Picasso, painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani turned Montparnasse upside down with his legendary excesses and talent, while spawning a circle of friends and lovers that worshipped him like a rock star. The Parisian posterchild for the free-wheeling lifestyle of 1900s Bohemia, Modi - as he was known to his friends - filled his days with drugs, liquor, sex, art and the company of his many colorful compatriots. Yet, as he began to feel the weight of his age and the increasing pressure to produce, Modi soon came face-to-face with the limits of his own mortality and the realities of living in a world where product holds more value than process and love can't hold a candle to the prospect of fame.

Modigliani will feature Artistic Home Ensemble Members Eustace Allen, Luis Crespo, Victor Doylida, Maria Stephens and Matt Welton, with John Mossman in the title role. Recent Jeff-award nominee and After Dark Award winner Chelsea Meyers will design the set, with costumes by Irene Servose, properties by Gretel Ulyshen, and sound design by Jeff-award nominee AaRon Johnson. Ed Krystosek will be Assistant Director, and Ensemble Member Tim Miller will be the Producing Director.

The Artistic Home is an equity theatre company noted for its innovative and intimate presentations of rarely-produced works. Audiences may know The Artistic Home best for its recent Jeff-recommended production of Look Homeward, Angel and Jeff-nominated production of Juno and the Paycock which also received four After Dark Awards, including "Direction", "Set Design", "Best Supporting Actor" and "Outstanding Ensemble." Other works from The Artistic Home include the Jeff-recommended productions Landscape of the Body, Clash by Night, Natural Affection, Peer Gynt, The Madwoman of Chaillot, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and After the Fall as well as Unchanging Love, The Miss Firecracker Contest, The Petrified Forest, Orpheus Descending, Three by Synge, and Street Scene which received an After Dark Award for "Outstanding Ensemble."

First formed in 1998 with the belief that the actor is at the heart of great theater, The Artistic Home strives to give birth to unforgettable moments; to touch audiences who are increasingly distanced from human contact; to readdress the classics and to explore new works with passion. Initially an ensemble of thirteen actors, the company has evolved into a group of thirty actors, directors and artistic associates who collaborate to bring timeless stories of human emotion to the Chicago community.
