The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival will hold a free Movement Workshop with Dave Demke on Friday April 30 from 7 to 10pm.

Over the course of the evening, participants will explore ways to connect the body to Shakespeare's text using a combination of fun games, pleasurable stretches, and simple movements to explore and illuminate the actors' sense of play and physical vocabulary needed to embody Shakespeare's characters and language. The evening will culminate with learning and performing a simple evocative dance that was a beloved staple of the Renaissance/Elizabethan period.

No prior movement, dance or acting experience is necessary. This workshop is appropriate for adults (ages 16+) of all experience levels. Participants are asked to come dressed in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. In order to gain the most benefit from the workshop, attendees will be expected to participate in the movement work. However, anyone with physical limitations is welcome to audit the workshop.

There is no cost to participate in the workshop. Donations are always appreciated.
