DSI Comedy Theater Starts New Schedule for Summer

DSI Comedy Theater announced its June schedule recently and there were two noticeable changes on it. For the month of June, the Triangle comedy mainstay is moving its weekly stand-up comedy showcase to Thursday nights. Then, DSI Comedy Theater announced a new adult version of its popular all-ages show IMPROV SLAM. DSI Comedy Theater is located at 200 N. DSI's weekly Stand-Up Comedy show is moving from late-night Fridays to Thursday nights at 9 p.m. for the month of June. All shows cost $10 and new comics can audition for a slot at 8 p.m. Each comic gets 6-10 minutes to rock the crowd. Comics new to Dirty South get 4 minutes the first time up. "Between our relationship with RooftopComedy.com and the success of Carolina's Funniest Comic, DSI has developed an incredible audience for standup and alternative comedy," says Executive Producer Zach Ward. "I'm excited to move Standup Comedy to primetime so even more people can enjoy the show."

DSI has also noted the success of IMPROV SLAM, the theatre's weekly freestyle comedy battle. Since the all-ages version of the show has been a success in the 7:30 p.m. slot on Saturday nights. In June, the theatre will begin an adult version of the hit show. During IMPROV SLAM, two crews of comedians feed off the crowd to spin an improv show that has never been seen before, every time. "You know when you love a certain food, but sometimes you just wish it had an extra KICK? Well, that's why DSI added a late show for IMPROV SLAM," explains Producer Zach Ward. "A lot of fans wanted improv games with an extra kick. So leave the kids at home and come out to watch improv Dirty South-style."
