Something very special is happening on Saturday, January 16. A Beauty and the Beast inspired event completely designed and planned by teens will host kids ages 13 - 19. This special event will be a fun gathering for teens in a safe environment while also raising money for the non-profit youth and family theatre, DreamWrights.

There will be plenty of beautiful Beauty and the Beast inspired decorations, sets, vignettes, and even a photo booth with props that relate to the story. Jacob Schlenker, a freshman at the York County School of Technology, is the mastermind behind this magical event. Jacob has worked on numerous sets for shows at DreamWrights and now he is turning his talents to coordinating this event to benefit DreamWrights, his home away from home. Along with some familiar decorations, Jacob reports, "We will have some new ones such as stained glass windows, castle walls, a star ceiling, Belle's cottage, the castle garden, and the 'Be Our Guest' table seen in the iconic Beauty and the Beast song." Teens will also be submersed in the story through the foods that will be a part of the event, as well as the music.

Music and dancing will be a big theme of the evening. Pop tunes from now will be combined with beloved Beauty and the Beast songs. Come prepared with your dancing shoes because there will be a Beauty and the Beast dance for couples as well as a "beauty" dance off for girls and a "beast" dance off for boys.

All that dancing will surely put kids in the mood for some sweet treats. French inspired finger foods and drinks will be available and included in the price of admission. A culinary student, Jacob will be cooking up some delicious bites.

Paige Gross, an eleventh grade homeschooler who is helping with the party, is bursting with excitement about the event. "A lot of thought and effort is going into the theme and the decorations. It's going to be AMAZING!" Paige says she's looking forward to the dance because it will give her the opportunity to get together with friends, new and old, while having a "really good time!"

Jacob sums up why this dance is the place to be on January 16. "This event is better than anything else you could possibly be doing because you can come out and support a nonprofit while having fun. If you've never been to DreamWrights or if you're nervous, bring a friend and experience the world of Beauty and the Beast and DreamWrights together."

This special evening just for teens ages 13 - 19 will be on January 16th, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre, 100 Carlisle Avenue, York. Tickets are $10.00 at the door. Dress is semi-formal, please. Refreshments will be served.
