Streisand is coming to Cortland! Not only that, she's bringing her friends Cher, Dolly, Liza, Adele and more when The Dozen Divas arrive at Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16. Even more amazing, all these divas come wrapped up in one person: international performer and "America's Got Talent" finalist Dorothy Bishop. This multi-talented singer and impersonator will perform her live - not lip-synced - production at the new CRT Downtown theatre at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Doors will open at 7:00 and the performance begins at 7:30.

A skilled vocalist and classically trained singer, Dorothy Bishop has thrilled New York City audiences for years with her incredible voice, glamorous costumes, and wicked sense of humor. Her solo appearances include Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops, Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, Lincoln Center at Alice Tully Hall, Roseland Ballroom and most recently at the beautiful Metropolitan room where she is a monthly featured artist. She was also a nationally televised finalist in Season Four of "America's Got Talent".

Bishop graduated from Yale University School of Music and has sung nearly every diva opera role in the lyric repertoire. She toured with Faye Dunaway in the first Broadway National Tour of Terrence McNally's Tony Award Winning Play Master Class, and was guest soloist with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. She got her start as an impersonator while attending an opera audition. The casting director marveled at her remarkable resemblance to politician Sarah Palin, which lead to Bishop spending the next 3 years working as a Palin impersonator, and performing her pop opera headline show on luxury cruise ships including the Queen Mary 2, The QE2, and Regent Seven Seas. While on dry land, Bishop was featured on CNN, Good Morning America, and ABC for her hilarious coverage of Occupy Wall Street as "Sarah Palin".

However, this natural comedian and versatile vocalist soon discovered she had more in her bag of tricks. Expanding her range and focusing on her vocal dexterity, Bishop created The Dozen Divas which salutes many great divas including Cher, Adele, Dolly, Barbra, Stevie Nicks, Kristin Chenoweth and Metropolitan Opera star Renee Fleming. She performs some of the greatest pop songs ever written as the stars who recorded them; her vocal styling is so uncanny that audiences swear they are hearing "the real thing". Her on-stage costume and wig changes keep the pace - and the humor - of the night flowing with laughs. CRT Downtown is proud to offer this international sensation as part of the first Spring Season in downtown Cortland.

Refreshments and a bar featuring Americana wine and beer will be available. Seating is reserved, cabaret style. A seating chart can be found on the CRT website. Tickets are $25 per person and are available by calling 800-427-6160, visiting the box office at 24 Port Watson Street or online at www.cortlandrep.org.
