ONCE ON THIS ISLAND
WINTER 2014

Book by Lynn Ahrens
Music by Stephen Flaherty
Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Based on My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy

Winter in Westchester heats up with the regional community theatre premiere of the tony-winning Broadway Caribbean-flavored musical, Once on This Island. With a book and score penned by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (A Man of No Importance, Ragtime), Once on This Island is a highly original and theatrical adaptation of the popular fairy tale The Little Mermaid. In almost non-stop song and dance, the show tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. Imagine Romeo and Juliet plopped in the French Antilles, with calypso beats and tribal dances supplanting iambic pentameter and amorous soliloquies.

THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
SPRING 2014

Music and Lyrics by William Finn

Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The Tony-Winning Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a tuneful, clever, heartwarming, and hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show, which critics called "irresistible and entirely lovable", champions the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

DAMN YANKEES
SUMMER 2014

Book by George Abbott and Douglas Wallop
Music and Lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross
Based on the novel The Year The Yankees Lost The Pennant by Douglass Wallop

Damn Yankees, a sporting twist on the Faust legend, tells the story of Joe Boyd, a middle-aged baseball fanatic, who loves the Washington Senators a little too much. When a devilish deal-maker offers the chance to beat the "damn Yankees" in return for Joe's soul, the perpetually frustrated Joe takes it. Transformed into Joe Hardy, a 22-year-old baseball sensation who will finally lead his team to victory over the juggernaut that is (or was) the New York Yankees, along the way, gets seduced by the Devil's sexy assistant, Lola. As the Senators' stats soar, Joe realizes the true worth of the beloved wife (and life) he's left behind, and looks for a loophole. Little Radical Theatrics continues its mission to re-imagine yesterday's favorites for today's audiences with the staging of this summertime sizzler!
