Blackfriars Theatre continues their 2016/17 season with Hands on a Hardbody, Book by Doug Wright, Lyrics by Amanda Green, Music by Trey Anastasio & Amanda Green. A musical that is new to most audience members, Hardbody is an upbeat, powerful story, brought to life by relatable characters and incredible toe-tapping music.

For 10 hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they'll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. In the heartfelt, hard-fought contest that is Hands on a Hardbody only one winner can drive away with the American Dream.

Mary Tiballi Hoffman is both the Development Manager at Blackfriars, as well as the show's co-director. "Hands on a Hardbody was chosen as our 2016/17 musical by our Season Soiree audience last year; patrons at that fundraising event really responded to the show's relatable themes and memorable music, making this show a real winner."

Danny Hoskins, Artistic and Managing Director and the other co-director adds, "The combination of a superbly talented cast and shiny red truck on our stage makes this an especially exciting production for our audiences-it'll be like nothing you've ever seen in Rochester!"

The cast features the incredible talents of Nancy Berg as Janis Curtis, Christopher Cain as Don Curtis/ Dr/ Stokes,Dean Davis as Benny Perkins, Shawn Gray as Frank Nugent, Ken Harrington as J.D. Drew, Mandy Hassett as Kelli Mangrum, Jason Alexander Holmes as Ronald McCowan, Yvana Melendez as Norma Valverde, Colin Pazik as Chris Alvaro, Ann Rhody as Virginia Drew, Jason Rugg as Mike Ferris, Eric Schutt as Greg Whilhote, Jillian Severinas Heather Stovall, Jillian Stapleton as Cindy Barnes, and Raul Torres as Jesus Pena. The show is co-directed byDanny Hoskins and Mary Tiballi Hoffman, with Musical Direction by Matt Wegman and Choreography by Mandi Griffith-Gurrell.

Hands on a Hardbody will play at Blackfriars Theatre beginning March 17 through April 2. Performances are Fridays, March 17, 24, and 31, at 8:00 p.m.; Saturdays, March 18 (note: start time is 7 p.m.), 25, and April 1 at 8:00 p.m.; Sundays, March 19, 26, and April 2 at 2:00 p.m.; and Thursdays, March 23 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $31.50-$39.50 and available in person at Blackfriars Theatre, online at www.blackfriars.org, or by calling 585-454-1260. Senior and student discounts are available online or through the Box Office. If available, tickets can be purchased at the door beginning one hour prior to performance.
