Suzanne Vega to Pay Homage to Carson McCullers and More in Cafe Carlyle Debut

One of contemporary music's most seminal singer/songwriters, Suzanne Vega, makes her Café Carlyle debut, March 14 - 25. Ms. Vega recently released a new album paying homage to renowned Southern novelist Carson McCullers.

On the release, titled Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers, Vega inhabits McCullers' extraordinary character and renders the life of a woman who, revolted by the politics and racism of her upbringing in the American South, arrived in New York in her early twenties and became one of the literary lights of the 20th century. The songs, which she co-wrote with longtime friend and theatrical collaborator Duncan Sheik, richly capture the essence of McCuller's insightful words and forward-thinking philosophies on gender and love.

At Café Carlyle, she'll perform selections from this release as well as classic hits and other songs from her vast catalog.

Performances will take place Tuesday - Saturday at 8:45pm. Reservations made by phone at 212.744.1600 are $75 ($125 for premium seating, $55 for bar seating) Tuesday - Thursday; $90 ($130 for premium seating, $70 for bar seating) on Friday and Saturday. Reservations can also be made online via Ticketweb. Café Carlyle is located in The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel (35 East 76th Street, at Madison Avenue).
