Richard E. Waits to Return to DIVAPALOOZA at The Metropolitan Room, 5/22
Richard E. Waits will return to DIVAPALOOZA at New York's The Metropolitan Room on Thursday May 22nd at 7 PM.
Veteran performer Richard E. Waits, featured in DIVAPALOOZA, started his career in a Television commercial with the legendary Ginger Rogers, has had a vast, and extremely varied "show biz" career having worked with the likes of Sandra BullocK, Don Johnson, Dionne Warwick, Billy Porter, Audra McDonald, Carol Channing, Philip Boykin, Kathleen Freeman, Karen Ziemba, Brad Oscar and Norm Lewis, to name a diverse few. Mr. Waits' career has taken him from Film, Television, Recording, Night Club appearances in the USA and Europe, to his show stopping performance, in Miami last year, in ORCHID Directed by William Baker of Kylie Minogue fame, to starring in La Cage Aux Folles in Paris France, and up coming appearances in Broadway Bares 24 and the Black Stars of the Great White Way Concert at Carnegie Hall. Look out for the performance art piece MAMA ROSE written by Mr. Waits being produced by Sheryl Lee Ralph and Penny Arcade. Mr. Waits was asked which Broadway show would he like to star in, without hesitation he replied, "KINKY BOOTS, the absolute humanity and magic of the character Lola literally speaks to my soul, I had an "out of body" experience when I witnessed my Theatre colleague Billy Porter's Tony Award winning performance. From the Pop world and Broadway, think Diana Ross, Cher, Whitney Houston, Patti LuPone, Idina Menzel, Liza Minnelli, and Judy Garland to name a few.
