NYMF Hit THE SCREAMS OF KITTY GENOVESE Set for Feinstein's/54 Below This Fall

Feinstein's/54 Below will present the Jonathan Larson Award-winning music-drama The Screams of Kitty Genovese, last seen at New York's prestigious Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF).

With words by David Simpatico and a score by Will Todd, the sung-through musical will take to the famed supper club's stage on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00pm. The evening will feature members of the original company, including Sheri Sanders (Rock The Audition, National Tour of Urinetown) as Kitty.

Inspired by the 1964 murder in Kew Gardens, New York that shocked the nation, The Screams of Kitty Genovese follows Kitty as she fights for her life in the dark of the street while thirty-eight neighbors watch from their windows - silent, afraid, paralyzed. The profound oratorio, with soaring music by Will Todd, begs the question: why do decent people look away?

The Screams of Kitty Genovese is presented as part of the Second Act Series, produced by Steven Carl McCasland and James Horan. McCasland will direct the evening, with Musical Direction by Horan. Each evening revisits a short-lived musical, highlighting its neglected score and inviting audiences to rediscover a forgotten gem. Previous evenings include: Onward Victoria, Charlie and Algernon and Eating Raoul.
