The great Marilyn Maye is adding two performances to the sold-out springtime encore of "Marilyn by Request," her wildly popular show format in which she takes audience song suggestions. In addition to the three shows she just performed at the Metropolitan Room this month, the party continues on Tuesday and Wednesday June 27 & 28, both at 9pm.

The kick-up-your heels format, in which her fans help pick her set list -- insuring that every show is different -- features Maye's world-class trio led by Jeff Harris on piano; bassist Steve Doyle and drummer Eric Halvorson.

"Marilyn can turn a room full of strangers into a packed house of fast friends," says the Metropolitan Room's owner Bernie Furshpan. "This is what makes quality nightclub entertainment so special today. We truly need to be connected. And Marilyn makes it happen, every night she performs."

Maye has performed over 20 engagements at the Metropolitan Room. This also marks the 11th anniversary of Maye's debut at the club, in October 2006. She virtually christened the Metropolitan Room in its first year when she returned to New York for the 2006 Cabaret Convention after a 15-year hiatus. (Her first of many extended runs at the Met was in March 2007.) Since then Maye has won every award imaginable, including five consecutive Celebrity Awards from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, and, in 2014, their Lifetime Achievement Award. Best of all, Maye has electrified a whole new generation by introducing them to a free-wheeling American nightclub performance style for which Maye really has no peer. Her master classes are thriving and successful as she imparts to other performers her beliefs and techniques of "The Art of Performance."

She's received the Legend Award from the Society for the Preservation of the Great American Songbook. In June she also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the CabaretFest Association of Provincetown, MA, where she appeared at The Art House for her seventh consecutive summer.

The Kansas City native holds the singers' record for appearances -- 76 -- on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She was a "Best New Artist" Grammy nominee in 1965.

PLEASE OFFER A TWO-SONG SUGGESTION WHEN MAKING YOUR RESERVATION. The music charge is $39, plus a $25 menu minimum. For information, or to order online, visit www.metropolitanroom.com or call 212/206-0440. The Metropolitan Room is at 34 West 22nd Street.
