Straight from her tour de force performance as Charlotte Brontë, actress/singer Maxine Linehan presents the New York premiere of Maxine Linehan: An American Journey, part of The Broadway at Birdland concert series tonight, October 7 at 7pm (315 W. 44th St.).

This theatrical concert was conceived for Maxine and is being directed by Scott Siegel(creator/writer/host of The Town Hall's Broadway by the Year series), with musical direction by the award-winning Ian Herman (Grease, Swing).

The Irish born Ms. Linehan, serves up a story that is both achingly personal and extraordinarily universal. In this one-hour performance, using a diverse catalogue of music that includes show tunes, country, and pop, she tells the story of leaving Ireland twelve years ago for life in America. Maxine taps into the shared experience of generation after generation of immigrants who have arrived in this country with big dreams and high hopes.

Maxine made her professional debut with The Irish Operatic Repertory Company at age 17. Notable roles throughout the years have included: Polly in Crazy for You, Nancy in Oliver, Maria in The Sound of Music, Emma in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tell Me On A Sunday, Laura in the American premiere of the award winning Irish play The Mushroom Pickers and The Lead Nurse in the first national touring company of Lincoln Centre's TONY award winning South Pacific. Most recently Maxine produced and starred in the critically acclaimed off-Broadway production of Brontë A Portrait of Charlotte which ran for 7 months. In 2009 she created and performed a nightclub act as a tribute to Petula Clark, which later led to a studio album.
