For the second year in a row the Tony nominated and Emmy-winning Liz Callaway headlines New Year's Eve at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street. "Celebrate! New Year's Eve with Liz Callaway" performs twice - once at 7pm and again at 10:30pm. Her "eleven-o'clock" special guest (for the late show only) will be her celebrated sister Ann Hampton Callaway.

Backed by a trio with music director Alex Rybeck at the piano, "Celebrate! New Year's Eve with Liz Callaway" is a new show packed with Liz Callaway favorites. Her freewheeling song selection, spanning the Broadway and pop repertoires, includes contemporary songs by Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, Maltby and Shire, Ahrens and Flaherty, and much more.

"We couldn't think of a better New Year's eve tradition for New York than being serenaded by the joyous Liz Callaway," states Christopher Mazzilli, co-owner of The Metropolitan Room with his brother Steven. "Especially in hard times, there's no one better, funnier and more genuine at making an audience feel good."

In his review of Callaway's acclaimed Metropolitan Room engagement last season, Stephen Holden of The New York Times said she has "a big, bright Broadway voice that illuminates a room like a ray of sunshine beamed to the rafters." Combining this with her sunny disposition -- equal parts charm and intelligence - guarantees that the Metropolitan Room will be one of the most incandescent venues in the bright-lighted city.

The cover charge for the 7pm show is $45 (plus a two-drink minimum). The late-show's cover is $139 (plus tax and gratuity), which includes free-flowing hors d'oeuvres, dessert, a champagne toast and open bar.

Seen most recently on Broadway in "The Look of Love," Callaway made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along." Besides "Baby" (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical) she starred in "Cats," "Miss Saigon" and "The Three Musketeers." Callaway released a new album, "Passage of Time," last fall.

Celebrated for booking both well-known and up-and-coming singers in shows spanning an eclectic range of styles -- from jazz and cabaret, to folk, pop and rock -- The Metropolitan Room was recently called "the best of New York's smaller clubs" by The New York Times. The club celebrates its fifth anniversary in May. For reservations call 212/206-0440. For more information or to order online visit www.metropolitanroom.com
