Nightlife, Bistro and MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award winning artist, Gretchen Reinhagen brings her new show, "Listen to the Music: The Songs of My 70s" to the Duplex next month. Following a successful sneak preview in December at Urban Stages, the Duplex plays host to the official 4-night opening run tonight, March 13th; Saturday, March 15th; Tuesday, March 18th (all at 7:00PM); and Sunday March 23rd at 4:30PM.

Gretchen is once again joined by long-time director Barry Kleinbort, and introduces a new collaboration with Musical Director, Andrew Sotomayor. Hilliard Greene on bass and Donna Kelly on drums complete the band. Gretchen calls it "a new show for a new year with a new musical director about a lot of old songs and old memories!"

Gretchen has previously presented a wide variety of shows ranging from Great American Songbook standards and musical comedy to pop and rock, so this child of the 70s feels right at home in such a diverse period of music. In no other decade do you have so many genres of music vying for center stage. Following the Urban Stages preview, one audience member said, "...what a wonderful evening you created for us and our friends last night...what you did last night was to reinterpret that time and those songs in a way that was both nostalgic and gave me a whole new appreciation for the music of a period that was complex...." This promises to be a show filled with great music, great memories, comic relief, and a lot of love.

Gretchen Reinhagen received the coveted "triple crown" of cabaret awards by winning the 2010 Nightlife Award, Bistro Award and MAC Award for her show "Special Kaye: A Tribute to the Incomparable Kaye Ballard" also directed by Barry Kleinbort. Her cabaret work has covered a broad range of material including a show of Great American Songbook classics entitled "Back to Basics"; a tribute to Janis Joplin's "Pearl" Album (MAC nomination for Female Vocalist); an additional blues/rock show, "Almost Blue", a comic turn in "How 'Bout Them Apples", and a show encompassing her love of both the Rock and Pop world as well as Broadway, titled "Both Sides Now" (MAC nomination for Female Vocalist). Columnist and critic Roy Sander said "Gretchen Reinhagen's shows are marked by intelligence, warmth, a lovely spirit of benevolence, and fine vocals. It is always a pleasure to spend an hour in her company." In addition to her work as a performer, Gretchen is also a voice teacher and a director, and was a recipient of the 2013 MAC Award for Director; an honor she shared with fellow director, Eric Michael Gillett.

"Listen to the Music: The Songs of My 70s" runs at The Duplex (www.theduplex.com, 61 Christopher Street @ 7th Avenue, 212-255-5438) on Thursday, March 13th at 7:00PM; Saturday, March 15th at 7:00PM; Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00PM; and Sunday, March 23rd at 4:30PM.
