America's mid-term elections may not be until early November, but it's already time for the three-stage process that leads to the winners of the BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards for 2014.

Come late February at Joe's Pub (date to be announced), BroadwayWorld will present its third annual Awards show (hosted again by the site's New York Cabaret Editor and lead reviewer Stephen Hanks), but now we begin considering the final nominees and you get to help us by suggesting your candidates for three out of the 16 voting categories (out of the 20 awards overall).

This year, rather than conducting an on-line free-for-all, where in the past BroadwayWorld readers suggested five nominees in all the categories, a panel of New York Cabaret experts and aficionados will pre-select preliminary nominees in each of this year's categories. At the end of October, we will announce a Baseball All-Game Ballot Style list of preliminary nominees in 16 categories (there will be four special non-voting "Editor's" awards). Voters will be able to select up to five nominees in each category (some of which could have as many as two dozen candidates). After Thanksgiving weekend, we'll announce the final nominations ballot in each category and voters will be able to select one potential Award winner. Like the last two years, those voting percentages will be calculated on line in real time.

But between now and the late October, you get to help us pick the nominees in the three categories listed below. Please pick up to five nominees in each and remember that your choices for Best Debut Show (Male or Female) should be among performers that appeared in at least three shows in New York City between November 1, 2013 and October 30, 2014 (if two were staged before October 30 and the third spilled over to November, that's okay.) For the Best Non-Piano Instrumentalist and Cabaret Performer of the Year categories, the three or more shows provision doesn't apply but your choices should be among musicians and performers who appeared frequently on the New York Cabaret scene during the November 1, 2013 through October 30, 2014 season.
