TVLine.com reports that Tim Daly will not be returning for the 6th season of ABC's popular medical drama PRIVATE PRACTICE. Series creator Shonda Rhimes has reportedly chosen not to renew the actor's contract for next season.

A statement on Daly's Twitter account revealed,  “Wonderful fans of PPP. Shonda informed my agent today that Pete won’t be returning for season 6. It was a great 5 yrs. R.I.P. Pete Wilder.” Daly's character, Pete, was last seen in jail on the season finale, charged with ending the life of a patient who was being kept alive by medical machinery.

Daly is a star of stage and as well as an accomplished director and producer. He is best known for his television role as Joe Hackett on the NBC sitcom Wings and for his voice role as Superman/Clark Kent in Superman: The Animated Series. He has had a recurring role as the drug-addicted screenwriter J.T. Dolan on The Sopranos for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award.
