Television Legend Ed McMahon Dead At 86

The man who spent 30 years welcoming television viewers with the iconic greeting, "H-e-e-e-e-e-ere's Johnny!" famous has died. Ed McMahon was 86.

According to CNN, McMahon passed away shortly after midnight at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. His wife Pam and other family members were by his side.

The former "Tonight Show" sidekick had been plagued with various health problems lately, including bone cancer.

In 2007, the announcer fell and broke his neck, which prevented him from working. Since then, he had a series of public financial problems. Recently, he made news for the foreclosure on his home.

Born in Los Angeles, McMahon began his TV career at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia. He went on to host a variety of game shows in the 1950s, until he met Johnny Carson on the set of "Who Do You Trust?" The two left the show in 1962 and the rest is now television history. McMahon appeared on Broadway in The Impossible Years in 1965.
