Variety writes that stage and screen star Joy Silver -- stage name Joy Saunders -- died on October 24, 2014. She was 89.

Saunders made her Broadway debut with Roger Moore in 1953's A PIN TO SEE THE PEEPSHOW and also appeared in several off-Broadway productions. She was a founding member of the Greenwich Mews Theatre.

The actress also participated in staged readings of SISTERS OF SISTERS and WAITING FOR GODOT, which was directed by her son Jonathan Silver at the Actor's Institute.

Her husband, Lee Silver, passed away in 2012.
