NBC Sports Announces New Full-throttled Quiz Show SHOTGUN
By: Caryn Robbins Nov. 03, 2016
NBC Sports Group announced today the debut of SHOTGUN, a high-octane automotive quiz show, from the creators of The Amazing Race, which tests contestants' skills at answering questions while riding in the passenger seat of a professional race car.
Hosted by NASCAR on NBC's Rutledge Wood, the show invites six contestants to buckle in for THE RIDE of their lives and ride "shotgun" as professional drivers put the pedal to the medal around four different courses at Irwindale Speedway, in Irwindale, Calif. As the cars race around the track and drift between obstacles, each contestant is asked trivia questions covering a range of topics from pop culture to geography. Contestants who answer the most questions correctly in each round will move on to the next race course. Each new course will feature unique challenges and a different race vehicle. The last contestant standing after all four rounds wins $25,000. In a first-of-its-kind launch for NBC Sports Group, the eight-episode series will debut digitally - on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app - followed a few weeks later by its television premiere on NBCSN. The first four episodes of Shotgun will be made available on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app on Sunday, November 6, following NBC's NASCAR Sprint Cup race coverage from Texas Motor Speedway. The second four episodes will be available on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app on Sunday, November 13, following NBC's NASCAR Sprint Cup playoff race from Phoenix.Click here to watch a preview of Shotgun.
