Award-winning comedian, author, and filmmaker Mike Birbiglia returns to the stage with his one-of-a-kind storytelling style in a show about jokes, and how they can get you in trouble. Birbiglia will bring hilarity and painfully awkward stories in his Thank God for Jokes comedy tour at Mesa Arts Center Friday, May 2 at 8:00 p. m. in the Ikeda Theater.

Birbiglia's recent off-Broadway hit, My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show and was named a Critics Pick by The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Time Out New York. Following a successful New York run, Birbiglia brought the show to more than 70 cities worldwide, including the Sydney Opera House, London's Soho Theatre, and Carnegie Hall.

Birbiglia has made more than 40 network television appearances on shows like The Late Show and The Tonight Show, and he is a regular contributor to the Peabody Award winning radio show This American Life. Birbiglia has also released four albums, and both The Onion and USA Today named My Secret Public Journal Live one of "The Best Comedy Albums of the Decade."

Mesa Arts Center is located at One East Main Street in downtown Mesa. Tickets are available through the Mesa Arts Center Box Office at MesaArtsCenter.com or by calling 480-644-6500.
