Jay Z & More Set for MSNBC's Live Broadcast of 3rd Annual Global Citizen Festival, 9/27

MSNBC will team with the Global Citizen campaign through a multiplatform partnership, including a live broadcast of the third annual Global Citizen Festival in Central Park featuring performances by JAY Z, Alicia Keys, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood, fun., The Roots and Tiësto. Original content developed by MSNBC that highlights initiatives in the areas of vaccines, education, sanitation and clean water to bring an end extreme poverty by 2030 will also be featured on TV and digital platforms.

Chris Hayes and Alex Wagner will kick off live coverage of the Global Citizen Festival on MSNBC and msnbc.com, Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. ET. Ronan Farrow will be backstage for interviews with heads of state and celebrity guests. The festival host committee led by Hugh Jackman, other celebrities and world leaders, will make special appearances during the broadcast. The final two hours of MSNBC's live coverage is sponsored by Caterpillar Inc.

In the months leading up to the festival, MSNBC traveled with the Global Poverty Project from Rwanda to India to shine a light on global efforts that could change the lives of millions. Original reporting and interactive content developed around Global Citizen initiatives will be featured on-air and on the msnbc.com homepage all week including:

· Special report with Ann Curry, who looks at the daily struggles of children and women surviving in extreme poverty, for the original web series "Depth of Field."

· Interviews with celebrities about their work to end poverty, including singer Gwen Stefani, musician and philanthropist will.i.am, and actor Adrian Grenier.

· Shareable infographics developed to increase awareness of poverty-related issues on social media platforms.

· Quizzes to test your knowledge on access to education, sanitation and vaccination.

· Captivating slideshows and custom animations that show how global activism is forcing positive change around the world, as well as other digital content available on globalcitizen.msnbc.com.
