USA Today reports that Cory Monteith, who portrays Finn Hudson on the FOX musical drama series Glee, has checked himself into rehab. His rep tells the paper that Monteith has "voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," and added, "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

The 30-year-old actor has been vocal about his past issues with substance abuse, revealing to Parade Magazine in 2011 that he was "out of control" as a teenager growing up in Victoria, British Columbia. He told the magazine that by age 16, he was "doing anything and everything, as much as possible." The actor was previously admitted to rehab at the age of 19.

Monteith's girlfriend of a year, actress Lea Michele, said in a statement to People Magazine, "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision." The couple met on the set of the FOX series.

A representative from the show's Production Company 20th Century FOX TV commented, "Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."
