Dallas News Anchor Karen Borta to Guest Co-Host CBS's THE TALK, 6/18

KTVT-TV, Dallas, CBS 11 News anchor Karen Borta returns to the Daytime Emmy Award-nominated talk show, CBS's THE TALK, as a guest co-host on Wednesday, June 18 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT/CT), joining hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood at the table. This will be Borta's second appearance on THE TALK. Throughout the week, news anchors from five CBS Owned Stations around the country will be in Los Angeles to serve as guest co-hosts.

During the week of June 16, The Talk will feature the following guest co-hosts:

Monday, June 16: Megan Glaros, Meteorologist, WBBM-TV, Chicago

Tuesday, June 17: Lisa Hughes, News Anchor, WBZ-TV, Boston

Wednesday, June 18: Karen Borta, News Anchor, KTVT-TV, Dallas

Thursday, June 19: Chris Wragge, News Anchor, WCBS-TV, New York

Friday, June 20: Pat Harvey, News Anchor, KCBS-TV, Los Angeles

Borta co-anchors CBS 11 News at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. Formerly, she served as an anchor and reporter at CBS affiliate WTVT-TV in Tampa, KRBK-TV in Sacramento and KCEN-TV in Waco.

Borta has received numerous awards for her work, including regional Emmys, Press Club of Dallas Katie Awards and the Association of Women Journalists' Vivian J. Castleberry Award. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and is a member of the UTA

Alumni Association as well as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In 2003, she received UTA's "Distinguished Alumni Service Award." In addition, Borta has been honored by numerous charitable and civic organizations including Mi Escuelita, Cook Children's Medical Center and the Baylor Sammons Breast Center.

Borta is deeply devoted to the cause of finding a cure for breast cancer. Her mother and both grandmothers had breast cancer, and one of her grandmothers died from the disease. Because Borta has two daughters of her own, finding a cure is especially important to her. She was honored for her work in the fight against breast cancer with the Macy's "Heart and Soul Award" in 2000 and the inaugural Strasburger "Commitment to the Cure" award in 2005. Borta has served as an honorary co-chair for both the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure and the Komen North Texas Plano Race for the Cure. Also, she has supported, since their inception, the survivors' luncheon sponsored by the Joanie Hatcher Memorial Survivors Endowment Fund and the Celebrating Women luncheon presented by the Baylor Sammons Breast Center.
