Carter Blackburn Returns as Announcer for CBS Sports

Carter Blackburn is returning to CBS Sports as the lead play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports Network, it was announced today by David Berson, President, CBS Sports. Blackburn will be the Network's lead voice on its weekly College Football and college basketball games, as well as other prominent events.

Blackburn also will call College Football for CBS Sports, including SEC games on the weeks the Network features two SEC ON CBS match-ups. In addition, Blackburn will announce college basketball games as well as other select events for CBS Sports.

Blackburn previously worked for CBS Sports Network (then CBS College Sports Network) from 2003-2009 calling college football, college basketball, college baseball and other events for the Network, as well as the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship for CBS Sports (2008-2009).

"Carter is a dynamic rising star in our business and we're thrilled to have him back in the CBS Sports family," said Berson. "He is a versatile broadcaster with a wealth of experience calling college athletics, and we're excited to have him contribute across CBS Sports."

Previously, Blackburn worked for ESPN calling college football, college basketball, college lacrosse and other events. Blackburn worked for ISP Sports and Fox Sports South in Winston-Salem, N.C., from 2001-2003, handling a variety of radio and television duties.

Blackburn graduated from Syracuse University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in public communication and political science. During his time at Syracuse he called football, basketball and lacrosse on WAER-FM and the Syracuse University Radio Network. Blackburn began his broadcasting career while in high school in Kerrville, Texas at KERV-AM calling high school football.
