Well, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, you certainly have my attention, as that was a NIGHTMARE! Good Lord, I truly have to stop watching this show while I'm eating.

After a two week absence, we last left Travis, his son, Chris and his ex-wife Liza had taken refuge in a barber shop in Downtown LA with the Salazar Family, Daniel, Griselda and Ofelia. At home, Madison was with Travis and Alicia as they took refuge from the inexplicable outside horrors.

Travis and company didn't last long in the Barber Shop as it was quickly looted and they had to escape. During the escape, Griselda is caught under some scaffolding and becomes injured, but when people are running FROM the hospital? Probably best to keep driving, which they did back to the house. At the house, Madison, Alicia and Nick try their best to have a fun family game night of Monopoly, but they can't ignore that noise outside. Turns out to be their dog, but when they run to the neighbor's to look for weapons, they return to find not only their Nanny, Susan, now "infected" but also, neighbor Peter eating their dog. Yes... that happened! #nightmare. Peter attacks Travis when he arrives home, but Daniel shoots Peter. He doesn't die until Daniel shoots him again point blank in the skull.

Traumatized Chris runs outside to vomit and winds up saving Alicia's life who was running from Susan. The entire group is on edge, some want to leave, some want to wait out the night. Regardless, the Salazars are staying and everyone else is going. When morning comes, two cars head out, but when they see Susan's husband, Patrick arrive home, they have to stop him from being attacked by his wife. The military arrive just in time to put down Susan and save Patrick. The arrival of the military gives Travis great comfort in thinking it's under control now and gives Daniel great discomfort thinking there is no hope.

The dichotomy of Travis and Daniel reminds me a little bit of the Jack/Locke relationship on LOST. Travis has eternal hope that as long as he can protect his family, the situation will be handled. Daniel, conversely, thinks he will keep his family together as long as he can, but at this point, there's really nothing to be done. This is also illustrated when Daniel shows Chris how to use a gun which horrifies Travis. Daniel wants to go into survival mode whereas, Travis, just wants to keep everyone safe until help arrives and that means keeping the kids out of it.

It can become frustrating as we, the audience, know Daniel is right. Even Nick's defeatist attitude is more on point than Travis', but can we really place blame on Travis? As far as he knows, this is an outbreak situation and it is being contained. Sometimes having all the information removes the ability to be objective. I fear that a grim end is heading toward Griselda and I doubt that will make Daniel any friendlier toward his newly acquired alliances. I'm quickly tiring of Nick's need for pills and when he gave his Mom attitude about sharing some with the ailing Griselda, it didn't endear him any further to me. Madison is enabling just a tad, but I have a feeling her patience is wearing a little thin.

Another interesting dynamic is that of Madison and Liza. Is Liza still in love with Travis? Why did that relationship go south? Chris is clearly still pretty bitter about it and yet, he takes a moment to ask Travis if they can leave, just the three of them? We found out that Madison is a widow, which explains some of the kids' bitterness towards Travis. But Liza and Madison's moment in the kitchen where Liza tries to call a truce and Madison jumps right into, "Please kill me, don't make Travis do it" if she acquires the virus, made things all too real in that household.

And, even though we know way more than the characters, we don't know everything. Maybe it doesn't get as serious out West as it did in Atlanta. Are the military able to control it out there and they are heading East or is this family doomed to the same fate as that crew down there in the Southeast? So there is still some mystery for us to unfold.

Regardless, they have my attention. I hope they have yours too. But for God's sake... the dog? SO upsetting.
