Pop star Ariana Grande and her label have been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit over the song, 'The Way,' according to ABC News. Watch the report below!

The lawsuit alleges Grande's hit song sounds comparable to the 1972 song 'Troglodyte' by the Jimmy Castor Bunch. According to the report, there is a striking similarity with the words, vocal style and rhythm, which are clear indicators that 'The Way' may indeed be copying the earlier song.

Grande's legal team told ABC News that the alleged offending materials were not provided by Ariana and that the co-writers and producers hope to resolve the claim shortly. Recently, singer Robin Thicke was sued by Marvin Gaye's family over his 2013 hit, 'Blurred Lines.'

Ariana's debut album "Yours Truly" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 last month. She recently became the first female singer whose first album debuted atop of the US charts since Ke$ha's "Animal" in 2010.

The singer/actress, who starred on Broadway in '13', is best known for her starring role as Cat Valentine, in theNickelodeon hit series Sam & Cat. The series premiered in June 2013.
