Actor Michael Cotter (Inherent Vice) stars as an ambitious father in the new inspiring family feature film HOPE DANCES, releasing June 6th on DVD/VOD.

HOPE DANCES centers on Hope (Avarose Dillon), a talented 11 year-old ballet dancer and star athlete who has always been able to enjoy the best of both worlds. When the opportunity to audition for a famous director (Michael Swan) arrives, she's forced to choose between her mother's (Sunny Doench) dream of her becoming a prima ballerina and her father Jay's (Cotter) ambitions of her becoming an Olympic athlete. Torn by this decision, Hope turns to a famous ballerina (Sasha De Sola) for guidance and discovers the perfect mentor to help make her dreams a reality.

Being a Father himself, Cotter was excited at the opportunity to be part of this inspirational family film, adding "Being a coach for my own child's Little League team, it was easy to jump into the role and fun to bring the character of 'Jay' to life. And working on location in Santa Cruz with other pros like Sunny Doench made the whole process a blast."

Audiences will remember Cotter from his appearance opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon in Paul Thomas Anderson's highly-acclaimed period drama, Inherent Vice. More recently, he earned laughs waiting on the tarmac opposite Mark Feuerstein and Danny Pudi in the comedy feature, Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant. His big screen credits also include roles in the bank heist thriller, Uploaded; and opposite Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington in the vampire-zombie-undead cult favorite, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. On television, Cotter has appeared on numerous network series including Bosch, Modern Family, Baby Daddy, CSI: NY, Scrubs, Help Me Help You and Shark.

In his spare time, Cotter writes, produces and stars in short form comedy projects for FunnyOrDie with the production group, ShowFriends. He also is an avid Ultimate Frisbee player and proud Northwestern University graduate.
