ABC's WORLD NEWS Delivers Largest Overall Premiere Week Audience in 7 Years

ABC News' "World News Tonight with David Muir" averaged 7.913 million Total Viewers, 1.903 million Adults 25-54 and 1.266 million Adults 18-49 for the week of September 21, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

"World News Tonight" improved on the same week last year (w/o 9/22/14) in Total Viewers (+2% - 7.913 million vs. 7.793 million) and Adults 18-49 (+5% - 1.266 million vs. 1.206 million). In fact, "World News Tonight" attracted its largest overall premiere week audience in 7 years - since w/o 9/22/08.

"World News Tonight" was up on its week-ago performance (7.623 million, 1.805 million and 1.251 million, respectively, on w/o 9/14/15) in Total Viewers (+4%), Adults 25-54 (+5%) and Adults 18-49 (+1%), drawing its best numbers in overall viewers and in the key adult news demo since June - since weeks of 6/15/15 and 6/22/15, respectively.

"World News Tonight" decreased its week-to-week margins with "NBC Nightly News" in Total Viewers (-4% - 371,000 vs. 386,000) and Adults 25-54 (-34% - 93,000 vs. 141,000), posting its closest news demo performance in 2 months - since w/o 7/20/15.

"World News Tonight" narrowed its Total Viewer gap with "NBC Nightly News" from the year-ago premiere week by 17% (371,000 vs. 446,000).

For the week, "World News Tonight" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 1.364 million Total Viewers, by 491,000 Adults 25-54 and by 331,000 Adults 18-49, delivering its largest news demo lead in 9 weeks - since w/o 7/20/15.
