Stuart Skelton will sing the role of Siegmund in Wagner's Die Walküre on Monday, May 7, replacing Jonas Kaufmann who is ill.

 

Skelton sang Siegmund earlier this season at the Met on April 13. The Australian tenor made his Met debut last season as the Drum Major in Berg's Wozzeck

 

Die Walküre is conducted by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi and features Deborah Voigt as Brünnhilde, Eva-Maria Westbroek as Sieglinde, Stephanie Blythe as Fricka, Bryn Terfel as Wotan, and Hans-Peter König as Hunding. The production is by Robert Lepage.
