Inaugurating a new era in Opera with the announcement of the most over-the-top cultural experience of the moment, Opera Australia is making it possible for travelers to steal the spotlight - bringing consumers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the classic art form from the most spectacular vantage point of all, the stage. This month, Opera Australia is announcing the first two chances for people to unleash their inner diva and get on stage at the iconic Syndey Opera House in 2017 with walk-on-roles in La Bohème.

The ultimate holiday gift to not simply give someone special the star treatment, but actually give them their star moment, the bucket-list experience is currently featured as a Platinum item in KRCB, North Bay Public Media's Holiday Auction, which kicked off online on October 3 and will culminate with a televised auction on Saturday, October 22 and 23. It will also be auctioned through Charitybuzz beginning October 20 and closing November 3.

"It's one thing to be an observer at the Sydney Opera House, but to actually prep with the cast, don a costume and take the stage, that's something special. This is a unique opportunity we're sure our bidders will love," said Adora Mack of Charitybuzz.

The walk-on-role auctions are the latest examples of how Opera Australia is working to bring a new cool to opera and appeal to different and future audiences, supporting the ultimate goal of the recently unveiled $202 million Sydney Opera House renovation plans. The project, slated to begin in 2019, is the largest program of upgrades since the Opera House opened in 1973. It will prepare the Opera House for future generations of performers, audiences and visitors - improving access and opening more of Australia's premier tourist destination and performing arts center to the public.

Inside the Experience - Opera from the Star's Perspective

Not just for opera aficionados, but for any traveler, this is the opera from the star's perspective in the world's most famous building. The winner will explore so much more than the stage. From a visit to the Opera Australia studio for a fitting for a handmade costume, to a private meeting with the Assistant Director, leading to a rehearsal where it all comes together, this is a rare glimpse into the magic behind the world's most celebrated opera house.

On the night of the performance, the winner will enter with the cast via stage door and report to hair and makeup for the ultimate star treatment. Once in character with make up, wig and costume, they'll make their stage debut as they join the chorus on stage for the performance as the power of the human voice in perfect melody rings out over an audience of 1,500 people, including a guest that will attend the performance as part of the auction prize.
