MidAtlantic Opera Names Winners to Perform in 'A Prayer for Peace'

Thirty five singers selected from the 2015 New Jersey state wide auditions will join the MidAtlantic Chorus and Orchestra, nationally acclaimed guest soloists and the Seton Hall University Chorus on stage at Carnegie Hall, October 17th in "A Prayer for Peace" announced Jason C. Tramm, conductor and Artistic Director of the MidAtlantic Opera.

The Carnegie Hall performance "A Prayer for Peace", co-sponsored by the MidAtlantic Opera and Seton Hall University, is the third installment of Maestro Tramm's 2015 Peace Trilogy performances, and will aid the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for Refugee Relief.

"A Prayer for Peace" presents classical music selections from composers of Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths whose music transcend its individual context and gives voice to each the composers' visions of peace in response to conflict and violence. The program includes the Elegy for cello and strings by Behzad Ranjbaran, selections from Ahmed Adnan Saygun's rarely performed Yunus Emre oratorio, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Dona Nobis Pacem. The concert's featured soloists will be bass baritone Kevin Short (Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro Comunale di Bologna), mezzo soprano Sara Murphy (Ravinia Festival/Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Oratorio Society of New York), countertenor Ray Chenez (currently performing as Marzia in "Catone in Utica" , Theater an der Wien Vienna, Austria), tenor Theodore Chletsos ( New York City Opera, Minnesota Opera, Utah Opera, Pittsburgh Opera), soprano Rochelle Bard (Opera Orchestra of NY, Knoxville Opera, Shreveport Opera, Opera Tampa).
