Plácido Domingo announces that Evan Rogister will conduct LA Opera's upcoming performances of André Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire, starring Renée Fleming as Blanche DuBois. Mr. Rogister replaces Patrick Summers, who has been withdrawn from the production due to a back injury, from which doctors expect a full recovery.

The young American conductor, who will make his LA Opera debut, conducted A Streetcar Named Desire last year at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, in performances that also starred Ms. Fleming. He has conducted numerous productions at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he served as Kapellmeister from 2009 to 2011. Last summer, he conducted the world premiere of Theodore Morrison's Oscar at the Santa Fe Opera.

LA Opera's production of A Streetcar Named Desire also stars bass-baritone Ryan McKinny as Stanley, soprano Stacey Tappan as Stella and tenor Anthony Dean Griffey as Mitch. Staged by director Brad Dalton, the opera will be presented on May 18, 21 and 24 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, 90012). Tickets start at $17 and are on sale at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Box Office, by phone at 213.972.8001 or online at www.LAOpera.org. For disability access, call 213.972.0777 or email laopera@laopera.org.
