Guitar virtuoso Adam del Monte presents an exclusive benefit concert for Center Stage Opera today, Sept. 6, 3 pm, at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 10000 Sepulveda Blvd. in Mission Hills.

Adam del Monte is a guitarist whose blinding virtuosity electrifies audiences wherever he performs. Born in Israel, del Monte grew up in Malaga and Granada, Spain. His father was his first guitar teacher, and, at age 7, he spent two months living with a gypsy family in the caves of Sacromonte in Granada, surrounded by the sights and sounds of gypsy music and dance. Today, he is recognized around the world as an amazing performer, composer and teacher. In recent years, Candelas Guitars has unveiled the Adam del Monte models of classical and flamenco guitars.

The program will include the Concierto de Aranjuez for classical guitar and orchestra by the Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo. Written in 1939 in Paris, it is far and away Rodrigo's best-known work, and its success established his reputation as one of the most significant Spanish composers of the twentieth century. The work has been interpreted by a wide range of musicians around the world, from jazz men Chick Corea and Al Jarreau to rockers Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, and has been used in films and television as well.
The program will also include four of Mr. del Monte's own flamenco compositions. Critics have described del Monte's compositions as "gorgeous and windswept, with generous, warm vibrancy."
This a rare opportunity to hear a true international star in an intimate setting, one that you don't want to miss. Call 818-517-4102 for reservations today. Tickets (subject to availability) will also be available at the door.
