Capitol City Opera, a company dedicated to supporting and promoting local talent, will be holding its annual fundraiser, On the Light Side, on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Church of the Atonement in Sandy Springs. Doors open for a silent auction and "indoor picnic" at 6:30 p.m. A performance of popular Gershwin tunes begins at 8:00 p.m.

Individual tickets are $35. Tables of 10 are $300. Tickets are available at CCITYOPERA.org.

This year's On the Light Side features 13 singers performing works from the great American song-writing duo, George and Ira Gershwin. The Gershwin brothers' music is synonymous with the sounds of the roaring 20s and swinging 30s. Singers will perform selections from Porgy and Bess, Funny Face, Crazy for You, and Nice Work If You Can Get It, among others.

The public is invited to bring an "indoor picnic" dinner (don't forget the wine!), and enjoy a summer evening in the casual, air-conditioned indoors.

There will also be a silent auction with hundreds of items from housewares and event tickets, to a Tuscan vacation. A complete list of these items is available online at CCITYOPERA.org.
