To bring one of the world's most popular operas, performed by one of the greatest opera companies in the world, to fans of opera, classical music and 3D movies everywhere is fantastic," said Tony Hall, Chief Executive, Royal Opera House. "It really is as though you're part of the action on stage. It's a wonderful and unique experience."

Francesca Zambello, director of the stage production, said "It's absolutely incredible to see the production come alive in a different way on screen in RealD 3D, and it's wonderful that we can use new technology to seemingly transport audiences from around the world to the Royal Opera House, fully immersing them in one of the most popular operas of all time. Carmen is so well known from staged productions, to tunes used in ads to ring tones and Carmen in 3D is the perfect work to kick-start a whole new chapter in operatic and cinematic history."

Carmen in 3D, a co-production by RealD and the internationally renowned Royal Opera House, marks a new era for opera as the first time that an opera has been filmed and distributed to cinemas worldwide in state-of-the-art digital 3D. Carmen in 3D offers an immersive entertainment experience that will transport audiences to the illustrious Royal Opera House and into the thick of the expansive production of the timeless tale of love, jealousy and betrayal.
