Sondra Radvanovsky will make her Met role debut as the title character in Verdi's Aida on February 28, replacing Violeta Urmana, who is ill.

Radvanovsky has sung numerous Verdi heroines at the Met, including Leonora in Il Trovatore and Elisabeth in Don Carlo (both of which she will reprise next season), as well as Lina in Stiffelio, Elvira in Ernani, Elena in I Vespri Siciliani, and the title role in Luisa Miller. She sang her first Aida at the Canadian Opera Company last season and repeated the role at the Lyric Opera of Chicago last month.
Aida, conducted by Marco Armiliato, also stars Stephanie Blythe as Amneris, Marcello Giordani as Radamès, Lado Ataneli as Amonasro, James Morris as Ramfis, and Jordan Bisch as the King.
