Uncle Kracker Set for Orleans Showroom Gig, April 21-22, Las Vegas
Multi-genre singer, songwriter and musician Uncle Kracker will perform at The Orleans Showroom April 21 and 22.
Uncle Kracker began writing music at the age of 11, and entered the music scene four years later when he signed his first record deal with an independent label in Detroit. A teenage friend of soon-to-be star Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker contributed to Kid Rock’s 1996 independent release “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp,” and the 1998 multi-platinum “Devil Without A Cause.” With Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker co-wrote hits “Bawitdaba,” “Cowboy,” “Forever,” “Only God Knows Why,” and 2008’s No. 1, “All Summer Long.”
In 2000, Uncle Kracker released the double-platinum album “Double Wide,” which spawned the smash single “Follow Me.” Uncle Kracker’s gold-selling second album, “No Stranger To Shame,” followed in 2002, delivering a hit cover version of Dobie Gray’s classic “Drift Away.” The track reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and set a record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, where it remained for 22 straight weeks.
In 2004, Uncle Kracker released “Seventy Two and Sunny,” which showcased his melodic songwriting and stylistic synthesis of pop, rock, country, soul, blues and even doo-wop. Country superstar Kenny Chesney was featured on the track, “Last Night Again,” and later that year, Uncle Kracker returned the favor by singing on Chesney’s “When The Sun Goes Down,” which topped Billboard’s “Hot Country Songs” chart for five consecutive weeks. Uncle Kracker hit the road with Chesney for an arena tour that found Chesney’s fans singing along with “Follow Me” and “Drift Away.”
Uncle Kracker’s 2009 release “Happy Hour” was his first album in five years, producing feel-good songs such as the buoyant first single “Smile.” In June 2010, he released a six song EP, “Happy Hour: The South River Road Sessions,” including the Academy of Country Music Award nominated song “Good To Be Me,” featuring Kid Rock.
Uncle Kracker is expected to release a new album this year.
