Sarasota shares its love with Tony Bennett this Valentine's Day at the Van Wezel on February 14, 2014 at 8pm. With too many awards to tally including countless strings of Grammy's and Emmy's, with albums selling both Platinum and Gold and a Citizen of the World Award from the United Nations, Tony Bennett epitomizes the phrase 'a living legend'.

His big break came in 1949 when he was discovered by the comedian Bob Hope, before his discovery Tony sang while waiting tables and with military bands touring Europe after enlisting in the Army during World War II. From 1949 to present day, Tony's success continues to grow, in the last ten years he has sold over ten million records. In celebration of his 85th birthday in 2011 Bennett released his much anticipated 'Duets II' which included him performing with stars such as; Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, John Mayor and Lady Gaga. The album skyrocketed straight to #1 in the charts and won two Grammy's.

Not only an acclaimed singer, Bennett is also a dedicated painter, painting everyday even when touring internationally. His art work has been exhibited in galleries all around the world. He has also authored four books, his most recent; 'Life is a Gift' was a New York Times bestseller. Throughout his career Tony has been dedicated to humanitarian and environmental concerns and social justice, he has raised awareness and millions of dollars.
