Elio Villafranca is excited to announce that the three projects he released earlier this year are competing in the 57th Grammy Awards in several categories.

The three projects are:

CARIBBEAN TINGE: LIVE FROM DIZZY'S CLUB COCA-COLA

Elio Villafranca & The Jass Syncopators

DOWNBEAT and JAZZTIMES Editors' Pick; as well as receiving a nomination by the German Records Critics Award "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik."

OLD WATERS, NEW RIVER:

Spiros Exaras and Elio Villafranca

DOWNBEAT: "To the credit of Villafranca and Exaras, neither of these virtuosos is shy to embrace a melody when it deserves it. Their sophisticated playing demonstrates for the umpteenth time that jazz is very much a universal music."

NORA LA BELLA:

Gian-Carla Tisera and Elio Villafranca

Latin Jazz Network: "The musical collaboration between Ms. Tisera and the Grammy-nominated pianist and musician, Elio Villafranca, is edgy and brilliant. Its energy is turbulent and visceral, and beautiful."

Caribbean Tinge is Elio's personal project as the leader. On the other two great releases, he is a joint collaborator.
