Only two decades into life, Waukesha, Wisconsin-born singer/songwriter Derek Sallmann was listed in the Milwaukee Shepherd Express Newspaper as one of the Best Acoustic Musicians of Milwaukee. Now, the 21 year old, who started playing guitar at 13 when he found his dad's green Guild guitar on his bed and asked him to teach him some chords, is getting ready to release his sophomore music video for a track off of his new album, All Seasons, on February 17th, 2017.

The video to be released is for the song "Storm", which is the first song Derek ever wrote that he liked. He describes it as a song about how "it takes time for the heart to come home" after a relationship deteriorates. He got the idea for the Discovery World themed music video from an experience he had in college.

Derek was at Discovery World in Milwaukee for a Marine Biology field trip and took some photos of all the animals they had there and posted them on Facebook. Discovery World shared the photos and wrote "Thanks for the kind words and great photos, Derek Sallmann. Hopefully someday soon we can have you perform "Storm" in front of the Lake Michigan Tank." After that, the idea to do the music video for "Storm" at Discovery World, in front of the Lake Michigan tank was stuck in his head. He states that Discovery World "is an awesome place where everything is learning-based and fun, with varying levels of learning so it is enjoyable for young kids and adults. It is a colorful, bold, and elegant location. They have multiple, beautiful fish tanks and a gorgeous viewing area as
well. It was incredibly fun to shoot the music video there and they were awesome to work with."

He decided to shoot the second part of the music video at the school that he currently attends, Wisconsin Lutheran College. He stated that "[they] have a great faculty and student team that takes care of the animals (specifically the saltwater fish tanks) that are on display for educational purposes." Additionally, even though he is not specifically a marine biology major, he is part of a scuba research team that takes part in a coral reef monitoring study in Grenada and to be able to showcase the marine life in the video was special to him. The video features clown fish, sturgeon (freshwater), lionfish, and more, and will be released on his website (www.dereksallmann.com) on February 17th, 2017.
