Sam Patch - the new project by Tim Kingsbury of Arcade Fire - has released "Listening," the second track available in advance of debut album Yeah You, And I. While in some ways Yeah You, And I is the very definition of a solo record - Tim recorded, produced, and composed all of the songs himself - the album is also marked by musical collaborations. "Listening" was co-written by his wife Natalie Shatula and features Jeremy Gara, drummer in Arcade Fire and Tim's frequent musical collaborator. The track complements the synth-infused tone and explorative theme of the album, one that ventures to answer the sometimes-unanswerable questions concerning selfhood.
SAM PATCH NEW SINGLE "Listening" OUT TODAY
"Listening" follows Sam Patch's first single, "St. Sebastian," which was greeted with enthusiasm: Brooklyn Vegan described it as an "analog synth-driven, motorik groover," while Stereogum called it a "surging, searching indie rock song with a bit of Stereolabin it." Yeah You, And I is out February 17th on Dep Records and is available for preorder here. The album will be supported by a spring tour that begins March 2 in Montreal. See below for a full itinerary.
