The acclaimed singer-songwriter Sam Friend lost his twin sister, Molly, in 2015. In her honor, he has just released his first full-length solo album, TWIN. Friend, 28, was born in New York and moved to New Orleans in 2012, where he co-founded the The New Orleans Swamp Donkeys, which has performed at leading jazz festivals and clubs throughout Europe and America. A composer and guitarist, Friend was recently profiled for an hour on NPR by Michael Feinstein on his program "Song Travels." TWIN, the new CD, features all original music, spanning the rich cultural traditions of the city, traversing the worlds of Blues, Rock, Jazz, and Funk-brought to life by some of the most respected and sought-after musicians in the Crescent City. TWIN, with its lead track "Will You Change My Life?" (dedicated to his sister's memory) documents the pain and exhilaration, the grief and joy of one artist's path through New Orleans to cities across the globe.
