MTV and Time Warner Cable today announced that singer-songwriter and chart-topper Robin Thicke will headline the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" concert to benefit Lifebeat- Music Fights HIV/AIDS, a national nonprofit focused on educating America's youth about HIV/AIDS prevention. The special free concert will take place at New York's Terminal 5 on Friday, August 23. The event is part of a series of VMAs-themed week concerts and events taking place across New York City and Brooklyn leading up to the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 25 at 9:00pm ET/CT.

In addition to distributing over 200 Robin Thicke concert tickets to Time Warner Cable customers at one of its New York City locations earlier this week, Time Warner Cable will initiate a Twitter Sweepstakes commencing August 12 through August 16th. In order to participate, contestants must follow @twc and include #TWCVMAconcert within their tweet to enter for a chance to score tickets to one of the most anticipated concerts tied to the 30th Annual MTV Video Music Awards.

"We're excited to be able to offer customers an opportunity to experience a VMA concert outside of their homes, in an exclusive setting, by one of the most popular music artists of the moment," said Jeffrey A. Hirsch, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Residential Services of Time Warner Cable.

Fresh off the recent release of his sixth album and the #1 selling, critically-praised, summer smash-hit, "Blurred Lines" featuring T.I. and Pharrell, Thicke has garnered three VMAs nominations including the highly coveted "Video of the Year," as well as "Best Male Video" and "Best Collaboration."

This is the second year in a row that Time Warner Cable has partnered with MTV to present the VMA/Lifebeat Benefit concert. As part of its ongoing mission to deliver messages of HIV awareness and prevention to 13-29 year olds, the annual VMA/Lifebeat Benefit Concert has become a major staple in the 24-hour lead-up to the VMA's, with concerts featuring on-the-verge artists and major acts, such as Phoenix, Kid Cudi, The Beastie Boys, Maroon 5, and more.
