Nellie McKay visits a live radio institution!

Idiosyncratic and celebrated recording artist, concert performer and Broadway headliner Nellie McKay will appear on Garrison Keillor's long-running live radio series A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION tonight.

The official description of tonight's episode of A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION is as follows: "This week: we're live from the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota, with special guests singer-pianist-activist Nellie McKay, our good friends Robin and Linda Williams, and Minnesota poet Kirsten Dierking. Plus, the Royal Academy of Radio Actors, Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and Fred Newman; Rich Dworsky and The Exchange Street Quartet (drummer Bernie Dresel, Richard Kriehn on mandolin and fiddle, Gary Raynor on bass, and guitarist Chris Siebold); and the latest News from Lake Wobegon. Tune in on your local public radio station or watch the entire show live at prairiehome.org! If you're in the Twin Cities, join us after the show for our final January Jump Start concert featuring Robbie Fulks and John Fullbright."

Of note, besides starring in THE THREEPENNY OPERA on Broadway with Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper, McKay has recently been seen in a featured role in Off-Broadway's OLD HATS, providing musical narration to the idiosyncratic theatre piece. Also, her successful studio albums include GET AWAY FROM ME, PRETTY LITTLE HEAD, HOME SWEET MOBILE HOME, the forthcoming MY WEEKLY READER and more.
