Brooklyn-based, Venezuelan-born Migguel Anggelo is a dynamic singer known for his electric stage performances. Cutting his teeth in the worlds of musical theater and opera, Anggelo brings larger-than-life emotions to his more intimate shows.

Migguel, who studied opera in Cologne, Germany, has always loved the drama and discipline of opera and the explosive whimsy of pop. A storyteller by nature, he paints images using simple and innocent gestures, creating theatrical metaphors that blur the boundaries between performance art and popular music and reminding us that the way a story is told is just as important as the actual story itself.

Backed by a string band, he performs works by Latin American greats like Agustín Lara and Ástor Piazzolla, original compositions that explore topics like Frida Kahlo and dictatorship, and American pop, jazz, and opera standards that he recasts in his own signature style.

Migguel Anggelo is joined by jazz great Claudia Acuña and Musical Director Mau Quiros on piano. This performance marks his debut at Joe's Pub.
