Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce and Subterranean are thrilled to announce R&B rocker JD McPherson, alt-country rock group Lucero and Canadian alternative rock band July Talk as headlining artists for Chicago's award-winning Green Music Fest in Wicker Park, June 10 and 11, 2017.

Additional artists will be announced leading up to the festival. For more information and programming updates, visit GreenMusicFestChicago.com.

JD McPherson

Saturday, June 10 at 9 p.m. (North Stage)

Oklahoma native JD McPherson seamlessly meshes the old and the new, the primal and the sophisticated, with music that satisfies traditional American rock 'n' roll and R&B purists while also exhibiting his rarefied gift for mixing and matching disparate stylistic shapes and textures. With an unaffected take on vital American music and a voice that channels the spirit of Little Richard and James Brown, McPherson presents traditional rhythm & blues and rock n' roll with fresh, exciting songwriting.

July Talk

Sunday, June 11 at 7:45 p.m. (North Stage)
Canadian alternative rock band July Talk's self-titled, independently released debut album earned the band a Gold record in Canada and a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, leading to worldwide deals with Island, Polydor and Universal. The fundamental quality of July Talk's performances has remained unchanged: the jugular-seizing power of their confrontational, sensuous rock 'n' roll. From the dingiest basement dive to the biggest festival field, a July Talk show makes audiences feel like they're part of a secret-society congregation.

Lucero

Sunday, June 11 at 9 p.m. (North Stage)

Memphis alt-country rock group Lucero formed in 1998 and retains most of its original lineup, including Roy Berry (drums), Ben Nichols (vocals, guitar), John C. Stubblefield (bass), Brian Venable (guitar) and Rick Steff (piano, organ, accordion). Lucero's most recent record All A Man Should Do, recorded at the famous Ardent Studios, showcases Nichols' growth as a songwriter and includes the band's first recorded cover song: a full band version of Big Star's "I Fell in Love with a Girl" featuring Big Star's Jody Stephens on back-up vocals.

Now in its ninth consecutive year, Green Music Fest embraces environmentally conscious and green technologies like its pedal-powered stage, where attendees pedal stationary bicycles to power amps, guitars, spotlights and more. Bright Beat returns to lead the festival's eco education and sustainability programming. In addition to live music stages and a variety of Lagunitas brews, the festival showcases innovative green vendors and products, along with the return of Pet Fest & Kids Fest areas where kids with and without paws can enjoy demonstrations, crafts, games and more. The community tables will be boosted this year to include even more green-minded folks sharing their passion for zero-waste lifestyles, organic benefits and sustainable ways to improve the home. Plus, just like last year, attendees can adopt a tree at the festival to take home with them!

Green Music Fest returns June 10 and 11, 2017, from 12-10 p.m. daily in the heart of Wicker Park on Damen Ave. between Schiller St. and North Ave. A $10 donation at admission awards attendees the "Refill Don't Landfill" reusable stainless steel cup to enjoy at the festival. Attendees are encouraged to arrive on foot or bicycle to minimize their environmental impact. For more information and programming updates, visit www.greenmusicfestchicago.com.
