Groundwork Music Project is hosting an afternoon of music and fun at Nutty Brown Café on Sunday, October 20th from 4 to 7 p.m. Playing (as always for this annual event) The Groundwork Music Orchestra will perform its acclaimed brand of family friendly music that has become an Austin staple. Groundwork Music Orchestra has recorded and performed with the likes of Ben Kweller, David Garza, and other Texas notables.

Joining the Groundwork Music Orchestra will be the Que Pastas, with their unique brand of "kindie" music. Gene Davis and Simon Flory have brought their talents to bare in this compelling family-friendly project with songs that bring all ages to their feet.

The Fall Family FUNraiser will include children's games, a bouncy castle, face painting and balloon animals. A silent auction will feature Hotel getaways at San Jose, a dinette set from Muebleria Alex Furniture, Passes to ACL 2015, and more.

All proceeds from this event go to the Groundwork Music Project, which enhances the lives of children by providing free and low cost music classes to schools with limited means. These programs provide the musical activities that are essential to healthy development across a broad spectrum: emotional, cognitive, social and more.

Neal Kassanoff, the founder of Groundwork Music Project has developed a cannon of songs that he has used for many years in the classroom. As Groundwork recordings and performances demonstrate, songs that reach young children can also have universal appeal. The material performed will be diverse, playful, and ever loyal to the elements of good songwriting and musicianship. Material will include songs co-written by Kassanoff and Ben Kweller, as well as great playing from some favorite veterans of Austin's music scene.

Check out Groundwork Music Orchestra's CD, Introducing the Groundwork Music Orchestra. This carefully crafted recording provides both entertainment and classroom enrichment for preschool programs and music lessons in elementary schools.

Proceeds from this event will go toward providing free and low cost music classes in several area preschools, as well as songwriting workshops and enrichment classes in AISD elementary schools during the 2013-2014 school year.
