THE BLUES SUMMIT, featuring The Taj Mahal Trio, with special guests James Montgomery and Duke Robillard. The event happens on Friday, August 17, 8:00pm, at the Capitol Center for the Arts, Concord, and is the second installment of Child and Family Services' 2012 Concerts for the Cause season.

A Grammy Award winning blues legend, Taj Mahal is one of the most prominent and influential figures in late 20th century blues and roots music. Though his career began more than four decades ago with American blues, as a composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, he has broadened his artistic scope over the years to include music representing virtually every corner of the world – west Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, the Hawaiian islands and so much more. A self-taught musician who plays over 20 instruments, Taj Mahal is revered by critics and peers alike, having recorded or performed with Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder, Bob Marley and The Rolling Stones.

The Blues Summit also features Blues Music Award honorees, James Montgomery and Duke Robillard, both New England icons with a rich history of producing some of the most memorable blues collaborations of the past three decades. Collectively, the artists have worked with Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Steven Tyler, Johnny Winter, John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, B.B. King, Greg Allman, Patti LaBelle, and Mick Jagger, among others.

Robillard launched his career in the band, Roomful of Blues, and later replaced Jimmy Vaughan in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. BB King has called Robillard "One of the great players." Robillard has been recognized as Best International Blues Artist by CanadIan Maple Blues Awards, and as Producer of the Year by The Blues Foundation.

With a longevity and vitality that is virtually unmatched in the world of rock and blues, James Montgomery is a Billboard charting artist. Child and Family Services brings Montgomery back after he brought the house down in the agency's first Blues Summit of 2012 back in June.

Tickets to the BLUES SUMMIT are $38.50 each and will be available at the Capitol Center for the Arts, ccanh.com, 603-225-1111. VIP packages, which come with priority seats, an exclusive VIP reception, and acknowledgement in playbill, will be available only through Child and Family Services, www.cfsnh.org. VIP tickets are $75.00 each.

Proceeds will support Child and Family Services' work with victims of abuse and neglect, children in foster care, homeless and at-risk youth, and struggling families. Funds will also support the agency's child advocacy initiatives and will help to send local disadvantaged kids to Camp Spaulding.
