Astræa Shares Poignant Video For New Single ANYBODY OUT THERE

Hotly tipped singer, songwriter and producer Astræa has shared the video for her latest single, 'Anybody Out There'. The video premiered with Clash, who called it "a poignant, timely work... frosted alt-pop that is both sparse and overwhelming."

Featuring shots of a homeless man cut against footage of his happy childhood, the video paints a stark picture of the realities of homelessness, and negates the anonymity associated with it to highlight a pressing and pandemic social issue.

"I want to draw attention to the isolation and loneliness that homeless people face. It's often much easier to walk on past a homeless person than to face the fact that it could be any one of us in their position. Sometimes all it can take is loss of a job, a divorce, or family troubles to put someone at risk of homelessness," says Astræa.

"Homeless people are also some of the most vulnerable in society, with higher rates of mental illness and substance abuse than in the general population. With homelessness rates and deaths of homeless people on the rise, I want to ask the question, isn't anybody out there for them?"

The video accompanies by the self-produced track 'Anybody Out There', which builds through swelling choruses and spacious verses amid emotive lyricism and tastefully crafted musicality.

Blending a voice and style in the vein of Tori Amos or Kate Bush with the pop sensibilities of Lorde or London Grammar, the US-born artist makes her biggest statement yet for her far-reaching songwriting and production skills with the release of 'Anybody Out There'.

Astræa is a classically trained pianist and an accomplished songwriter and producer, having had her versions of 'Mad World' and 'You're Not Alone' used in recent Lloyds bank TV adverts, which she arranged, produced and performed.

Her version of 'You're Not Alone' has had over 3 million streams, and charted in Spotify's UK Viral Chart at #18, iTunes Main Charts at #23 and iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart at #2.

Having previously sold out a headline show at London's St Pancras Old Church, Astræa has announced her next show in the capital at the even-more beautiful St James's Church, Piccadilly on March 21st. Tickets are available now via Eventbrite.
