The 11th Annual Independent Music Awards have just announced their 2012 nominees and Amy Correia is one of a handful of songwriters to garner three nominations: "Singer-Songwriter Folk Album" -- Your Go Your Way, "Love Song" -- Love Changes Everything, and "Story Song" -- Took Him Away.  While Keith Richards, Tom Waits, Kathleen Brennan, Suzanne Vega, Ozzy Osbourne are just some of the jury members for the official IMA awards this year, there is also a popular vote that fans can cast.

Amy's Return to Massachusetts
A native of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Amy Correia was a longtime resident of New York City after graduating from Barnard College where she cut her musical teeth on Manhattan's Lower East Side alongside fellow songwriters Jeff Buckley, Jesse Harris, Elysian Fields, and jazz singer Rebecca Martin.  Five years later Correia signed a deal with Capitol Records. Correia recently moved back to Massachusetts where she is finding her place among the Boston music scene. Amy's song “Love Changes Eveything” was recorded this year by Boston’s Session Americana, who will release the song on a forthcoming album.  She also appeared as Persephone in Anais Mitchell’s folk-opera “Hadestown” at the Somerville Theater and was a  featured vocalist on both folk diva Rose Polenzani’s latest album and John Powhida International Airport’s forthcoming release.  "There is a collaborative spirit here that reminds me of my first years in NYC on the lower east side....Massachusetts has always been my spiritual homebase," says Amy, "in spite of my nomadic ways." She added: "My family and closest friends are here, including a brand new first niece, and it means a lot to be nearer to them."
